The Fort Frances Lakers take game one 3-2 over the Wisconsin Wilderness in the best of 4 total goal series. The Lakers end the consecutive win streak by Wilderness and send a strong message that the playoffs are a new beginning in the SIJHL. Although being outshot by a total 48-30, The Lakers Tyler Ampe was superb in goal and they received goals by Jon Sinclair and Byron Katapaytuk and a short-handed marker by Henry Gutierrez to give the Lakers the win and hand the Wilderness their first regulation loss is quite some time. The Lakers will face the Wilderness again tonight in Wisconsin before returning home on Thursday March 9th and Friday March 10th to close out the series at the Ice for Kids Arena.
