Dryden’s Aubin named SIJHL’s most improved player

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that Dryden GM Ice Dogs forward Braedyn Aubin has been named its most improved player for the 2016-17 season.

Aubin earned the accolades over fellow finalists Dante Tisi of the English River Miners and Brad Thrower of the Thunder Bay North Stars for the honour, in balloting completed by each of the league’s member clubs.

The 18-year-old Woodstock, Ont., native, is currently sitting third in SIJHL scoring with 77 points after 52 games, including 28 goals.

This marks a 50-point improvement from his rookie campaign in the league last season.

He has easily surpassed his tally and assist totals from 2015-16 where he scored 16 times and helped set-up 11 others for the GM Ice Dogs.

Aubin becomes the just the fourth Dryden player in the 16-year history of the SIJHL to capture this award.

The last to do so was Kevin Burton back in 2008-09 while Jordan Chong (2005-06) and Mike MacIntyre (2002-03) were the others to accomplish this feat.
