Miners’ Janke named SIJHL Play It Again Sports player of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that English River Miners forward Jared Janke has been named its Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period ending Oct. 22.

In three outings last week he tallied in each of them producing six goals in all and added an assist helping English River pick-up four points in the SIJHL standings.

The 19-year-old Airdrie, Alta., product began by notching a goal and an assist in a road setback at Fort Frances Tuesday evening.

He then tallied twice as the Miners rallied to defeat Thunder Bay at home Thursday before notching his second career hat trick, which included the game-winning marker in overtime, in another triumph over the North Stars Friday.

With goals in four consecutive contests, Janke now tops English River in offensive production averaging a point-per-game with 10 in total, including a club-high eight tallies.

His goal count currently ties him for fourth among all SIJHL skaters.
