2 more for Lee as Norskies top Lakers

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – After picking up a hat trick in his Superior International Junior Hockey League debut earlier in the week, Gregg Lee tacked on two more markers Friday to help lead the Thief River Falls Norskies to a 5-1 triumph over the Fort Frances Lakers Friday night at Ice for Kids Arena.

The league-leading Norskies set the tone early in this one, snagging a 3-0 lead before the contest was 13 minutes old thanks to a single from Blair Lindholm and a pair from Lee.

Fort Frances connected on the power play with nine seconds left in the first period on a point shot from Lakers’ captain Julian Uhryniuk.

After a scoreless middle stanza, Thief River Falls added some insurance midway through the third on an Aslan Akervik effort before Jared Pedersen sealed the road victory with a man advantage marker at 14:19 to round out the scoring.

Michael Johnson and Connor Bowey dished out two assists each to aid the Norskies’ offensive cause.

Johnson now has 10 helpers in total in his past four outings as well as 18 in his past 10 games played.

Shots on goal in the match-up favoured the visitors by a 36-32 margin with Bailey Schmitz picking up the win while Ismael Ralsten suffered the loss.
