Greg was a wonderful ambassador in Fort Frances this season. he made visits to multiple RRDSB schools to meet with classes and share his experience as an Inuit from Rankin Inlet.
Comments from RRDSB Indigenous Education Lead Kim Kirk:
“Through his visits to various Rainy River District School Board (RRDSB) schools, this Lakers player from Nunavut has made a meaningful connection with students by sharing his Inuit culture and experiences. Growing up in Rankin Inlet, he brings personal stories, traditions, and language into the classroom in a way that is genuine and engaging.
His visits help bring the Ontario Social Studies curriculum to life, giving students a real understanding of Inuit culture and perspectives. By speaking openly about his experiences, he encourages students to appreciate different identities and ways of life while promoting respect and inclusion.
Using his role as an athlete to connect with students, he creates an environment where learning feels real and relevant. His impact goes beyond the classroom, helping build greater awareness, understanding, and respect within the school community.”
