3-point night for Withers as Lakers hold on to edge Iron Rangers

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – The Fort Frances Lakers picked up a goal and two assists from Adam Withers to help the Fort Frances Lakers hold on for a narrow 4-3 triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Friday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Ice for Kids Arena.

Fort Frances came out flying in this one skating to a 3-0 lead after one period on a power play tally from Withers and even strength markers courtesy of Jack Bernie and Jack Dunnell.

Minnesota got one back early in the second stanza as Zac Horn’s 10th of the season came at 1:16 during a man advantage.

The Iron Rangers then pulled to within one seven and a half minutes into the third on a Bryce Litke effort.

Jaedin Ness picked up the eventual game-winner at 12:06 for the Lakers before Eli Kinsman rounded out the scoring with 6:48 to go for Minnesota.

Kinsman also had two assists joining Wither with a three-point nights.

Fort Frances outshot Minnesota 42-32 overall with Ismael Ralsten picking up the win while Rob Ivy suffered the loss.

The two teams will finish off a home-and-home set Saturday in a 7 p.m. start at Hoyt Lakes Arena.
