Dryden drops Fort Frances 5-2

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Eric Stout tallied twice and added an assist as his three-point night helped send the Dryden GM Ice Dogs to a 5-2 win over the Fort Frances Lakers Friday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Ice for Kids Arena.

With their first power play of the night, Dryden got on the board first midway through the opening frame as GM Ice Dogs captain Trevor Kavanaugh unleashed a point blast that beat Fort Frances starter Brett Akins.

Stout then struck shorthanded early in the second stanza to put the visitors up by two.

Julian Uhryniuk got one back for the Lakers at 5:38 only to see Dakotah Woods notch his first SIJHL tally at 10:45 for Dryden’s second man advantage marker of the contest.

Ian Jarvis did bring Fort Frances back to within one before the session was complete to make it a 3-2 game after 40 minutes.

However in the third, Stout and Matthew Pitchenese connected 53 seconds apart to send the GM Ice Dogs to victory.

Jacob Gnidziejko made 38 stops to earn the decision for Dryden.

Akins suffered the loss allowing the five against on 35 shots while Ismael Ralsten handled each attempt he saw in relief for the Lakers.
