Flett tallies twice as Lakers sink Iron Rangers

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – The Fort Frances Lakers picked up a pair of goals from MacKenzie Flett while Isaac Baron dished out a trio of assists to help lift their side to a 6-2 triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers in a Superior International Junior Hockey League encounter Monday afternoon at Ice for Kids Arena.

Fort Frances picked up the lone tally in the opening frame as Kaleb Bruyere collected his second marker of the campaign.

The Lakers then tacked on three more in the middle stanza to extend their lead on tallies from Brett Hahkala, Anthony Antonelli and Flett.

Minnesota did get on the board late in second when Elias Thompson knocked in his sixth of the season at 19:23.

The Iron Rangers added another early in the third as Brendan Burns picked up his first SIJHL goal to bring the visitors to within two.

However, Fort Frances secured the home ice win in the back half of the session with Cole Allan and Flett rounding out the scoring.

Ethan Knutsen chipped in with a pair of assists for the Lakers.

Shots on goal favoured Fort Frances 48-22 with Matt Booth picking up the win while Synjen Amende suffered the loss.
