FORMER LAKERS GOALTENDER COMMITS TO RIVIER UNIVERSITY

May 9, 2023

FORT FRANCES, ON - Former Fort Frances Laker Mason Meyer has committed to Rivier University for the 2023 season.  The 6-foot, 183-pound Lakeville Minnesota native competed for the Lakers during the 2021-2022 campaign, posting a .902 save percentage in 24 games.  Meyer spent this year with the OJHL’s Aurora Tigers, and the USPHL Premier League’s Northern Cyclones, where he finished the season with a .928 save percentage in 19 games.
“Playing for the Lakers helped me develop as a goalie and as a person,” said Meyer.  “I lived with amazing billets who helped me grow as a human.  On the ice, I was given the opportunity to play games and continue to learn how to battle and find ways to make saves.  My experience in Fort Frances helped me become the goalie and person I am today.  I’m grateful for my time there.”
Meyer will look to help the Rivier Raiders bounce back from a 2022-23 campaign that saw them go 8-15-2 in the NCAA Division III.
