Michael Freeman “Local Sporting Community will miss you”

I sit here in total disbelief. I can’t imagine going to the local arena and not hearing his voice booming over the PA system. The local hockey community has lost their beloved announcer Michael “Mike” Freeman. From everyone involved with the Fort Frances Lakers our hearts, prayers and deepest condolences go out to Mike’s family and friends.

Mike was truly a gift to us and the local sporting community of Fort Frances. His love for the game and all sports will never be questioned. He was a devote Pittsburgh Penquins fan but his love for Fort Frances Hockey was truly our gift. His flair at the microphone broadcasting local Muskie, Laker or other teams from our past will never be duplicated and we have lost a big part of what made our game special. It will never be the same without Mike. As I write this I can’t help but wonder how the Local Sporting community should honour Mike. I keep thinking that, yes we should all take a moment in silence to remember the many memories we all have of Mike. But then in my mind I keep hearing his voice as the team hits the ice, “HOCKEY FANS, MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!!!!”.

Michael Freeman from your Laker Hockey Family, Rest in Peace and Peace be with you always.
