Miners’ Janke repeats as SIJHL Play It Again Sports player of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that English River Miners forward Jared Janke has once again been named the Play It Again Sports player of the week, this time for the period ending Oct. 29.

In two games vs. the Dryden GM Ice Dogs, Janke scored six times and added an assist as the two clubs split a weekend home-and-home set.

Starting with the opener Friday the 19-year-old from Airdrie, Alta., notched a career single-game high five goals, including his third game-winner of the season as the Miners rolled to a 7-1 triumph over the GM Ice Dogs.

Janke then connected for a sixth straight outing Saturday, but it wasn’t enough as Dryden dumped English River 7-2.

His 14 overall tallies tie him for the league lead with his 17 points putting him seventh among all SIJHL skaters.

Also earning consideration for SIJHL Play It Again Sports player of the week honours were the following:
