THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Thunder Bay North Stars tallied twice in each of the second and third periods to propel them to a 4-1 triumph over the Fort Frances Lakers Saturday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at the Fort William Gardens.

After winning in Fort Frances Friday, Thunder Bay kept coming on this evening as they pumped 16 shots on Lakers starter Dylan Kosik in the opening frame, but could not solve him.

They did finally connect four minutes into the second stanza as Evan Nicholas slammed in his third of the season from close range.

A North Stars power play helped them go up by a pair at 15:52 when Jacob Brown went top shelf to the left of Kosik.

Late in the session, the visitors capitalized on a man advantage opportunity as Jack Lane calmly drifted towards the net and neatly wired one high from a sharp angle over the shoulder of Seth McKay in the home side’s net.

Some nice passing from Robert Tyska and Nikolas Campbell helped Kyler Belluz notch his first SIJHL goal midway through the third as Thunder Bay went up by three.

Campbell then secured the decision in the late going as he snapped in a high shot to round out the scoring.

The North Stars also out shot the Lakers 38-32 on the night with McKay getting the win and Kosik the loss.
