North Stars extend win streak to 11 as Bodnar blanks Lakers

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – The hottest team in the Superior International Junior Hockey League continued their winning ways by blanking the Fort Frances Lakers 4-0 Friday at Ice for Kids Arena to earn their 11th victory in a row.

Kyle Auger gave Thunder Bay the only tally they would require 15 and a half minutes into the contest in what proved to be the eventual game-winning goal.

It was the seventh marker for the defenceman and fourth game-winner since he joined the club in early January.

The North Stars came back and picked up another 65 seconds later on a Justin Muir effort.

Moving on to the middle frame, Alex Maticic’s 17th extended the visitors lead to three at 12:46.

They then rounded of the scoring in the latter stages of the match-up compliments of Avery Siau at 16:31.

Thunder Bay captain Joe Newhouse chipped in with two assists to aid the North Stars cause.

For Bodnar, the shutout was his SIJHL-leading fifth of the season as he turned aside all 32 shots fired his way in the triumph.
