Thief River Falls caps off road trip with win in Fort Frances

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Michael Moreira’s first Superior International Junior Hockey League goal, coming 5:16 into the third period proved to be the game-winner as the Thief River Falls Norskies went on to earn a 3-1 decision over the Fort Frances Lakers Saturday at Ice for Kids Arena.

After rallying late for a win in Dryden Friday, the Norskies kept it going in Fort Frances with Boe Bjorge notching his ninth of the season midway through the first frame.

The Lakers tied it with the lone marker of the middle stanza thanks to the ninth of the year for Nick Lucas to knot the affair at 1-1 after 40 minutes.

Moreira than supplied the difference make in the third for Thief River Falls before Jake Eischen iced it in the final moments with an empty netter to secure the road triumph.

Fletcher Bolda made 27 saves to record the win for the Norskies while Jacob Gnidziejko made 31 stops in the narrow setback for Fort Frances.
