Thief River Falls stands tall vs. Fort Frances

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Boe Bjorge tallied twice to help the Thief River Falls Norskies dispatch the Fort Frances Lakers 5-1 in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Friday night at Ice for Kids Arena.

The visiting Norskies came out strong and skated out to a 2-0 lead after one period of play on goals from Bjorge and Connor Bowey.

It was more Thief River Falls in the middle session as they tacked on two more to extend the cushion as Bjorge notched his second of the evening and 29th overall before Jacob Schuldt added his fourth the campaign.

Alec Severson made it 5-0 for the Norskies just past the 10-minute mark of the third as he slid in his ninth.

Fort Frances eventually dashed Bailey Schmitz’s shutout bid at 17:09 of the final frame to round out the night’s scoring.

Nick Harder chipped in with two assists to aid the winner’s cause.

Thief River Falls also outshot the Lakers 40-28 overall with Schmitz securing the victory while Jacob Gnidziejko suffered the loss.
