North Stars’ Bodnar blanks Lakers

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Thunder Bay North Stars netminder Brandon Bodnar turned aside all 36 shots he faced to post his second shutout of the season to backstop his side to a 2-0 victory over the Fort Frances Lakers Friday in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Ice for Kids Arena.

Thunder Bay picked up the eventual game-winner 16 minutes into the opening stanza as Ryan Mignault struck shorthanded with assists going to Dillon Ward and Justin Muir on the man-down effort.

After a scoreless middle stanza, Ward added some insurance 8:13 into the final frame in what was the night’s final tally.

Bodnar did the rest to blank his former club for his fifth career SIJHL shutout.

Ismael Ralsten faced 31 shots in defeat in net for Fort Frances in his Lakers’ debut.
