SIJHL Announces November Players of the Month

Forward of the Month – Edison Weeks, Thunder Bay North Stars

Thunder Bay had a slight edge in November’s players of the month considerations as they played 11 games, 2 more than any other team, but even with the additional ice time Edison Weeks exceeded anythingother player. Weeks was almost a 2 point per game player with 9 goals and 11 assists throughout the month. As one of the leaders in the North Star locker room he was instrumental to the 15 game point streak that ran through most of the month and recently ended. He also showed the knack for volume scoring as he had 3 points or more in 3 different contests. Weeks’ dominant performances secured him Forward of the Month for November.

Honorable Mention – Jeremy Dunmore, Kam River Fighting Walleye; Aiden Corbett, Red Lake Miners

October Winner – Max Roby, Dryden GM Ice Dogs

 

Defencemen of the Month -Dayvan Bull, Sioux Lookout Bombers

Dayvan Bull is the definition of a workhorse for the Sioux Lookout Bombers. Bull logs plenty of ice time in all 3 phases of the game, and is extremely effective on the power play. The blue liner had 4 goals in the month of November, 3 of which came with the man advantage. He added 4 assists to bring his point total up to 8 in 9 games played. Sioux Lookout is showing plenty of strong defensive talent as their players have taken back to back Defencemen of the Month awards, Nolan Palmer in October and now Dayvan Bull in November.

Goalie of the Month – Matthew Spencer-Dahl, Sioux Lookout Bombers

It is hard to post a better month than Spencer-Dahl just did for the Bombers, very hard. The netminder stood on his head having 3 shutouts in 4 games. In the only game he didn’t shut out the opposition, Spencer-Dahl had 64 saves in an overtime loss to Kam River. Throughout the month the Bombers goaltender compiled a goals against average of 0.73 and a save percentage of 0.981. When it comes to stopping the puck no one was as close to good as Spencer-Dahl in the month of November.

October Winner – Keenan Marks, Thunder Bay North Stars

 

Rookie of the Month – Easton Mikus, Thunder Bay North Stars

Early in the season Mikus set a record with 6 goals scored in a single game and while that didn’t happen in November his stats look just as good. Mikus managed 16 points with 4 goals and 12 assists in his 11 games, forming a deadly combination with Edison Weeks. The young North Star was the model of consistency scoring in all but 1 of the games in November. Thunder Bay has a reputation for finding extremely talented local youngsters to contribute to their team and Mikus looks like he is next up for the North Stars.
