Carter Chorney named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Rookie of the Month

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Friday that Fort Frances Lakers forward Carter Chorney has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. rookie of the month for December.

In six games played in December, the 17-year-old Rainy River, Ont. native registered eight points on two goals and six assists.

Included in his efforts was a career-best three point night in a triumph over Dryden back on Dec. 2.

Chorney has tallied five times and doled out 16 helpers in 27 games overall and enters 2015 riding a four-game point streak.

Fort Frances has also gone 13-1 in games so far this season in which Chorney registered at least one point.

For his efforts Chorney will receive a prize package from Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp.

Also receiving consideration for SIJHL rookie of the month honours was: Daniel McKitrick, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Ryan Hron, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Kyle Carignan, (G) Minnesota Iron Rangers and Alex Maticic, (F) English River Miners.
