THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thunder Bay North Stars goaltender Brandon Bodnar has been named its Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period ending February 4.
In four starts last week the 20-year-old Fort Frances, Ont., won all of them helping Thunder Bay extend their current winning streak to 10 consecutive games.
For the week Bodnar registered a 1.75 goals-against average along with a stingy .947 save percentage while also posting his league-leading fourth shutout as he picked up wins vs. Fort Frances and English River at the SIJHL Showcase along with a pair of home ice triumphs over the weekend against Dryden.
Bodnar has now won his past seven starts and presently paces all league netminders in wins with 16.
Also earning consideration for player of the week honours was Michael Johnson, (F) Thief River Falls Norskies; Brody Jennings, (D) English River Miners; Matthew Pitchenese, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Adam Withers, (F) Fort Frances Lakers and Tyler Thompson, (G) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
